Abbotsford–a colonial bungalow, bought by Purnima J Prasada (nee Sudakshana Tagore), niece of the revered thinker, painter, poet and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore–was built in 1876. It is Nainital’s only boutique heritage country home.
The quaint colonial hill-station of Nainital is a lake town interspersed with heritage buildings, churches and missionary schools with formidable legacies.
Situated at 2,084 m above sea level, the city has an 80,000 strong population and is well connected by land, rail and air. Encircled by deodar-lined mountains, Abbotsford with its rich history, imposing setting and multitude of venues, big and small, is the perfect setting for Himalayan Echoes.
